Refund Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026 | Applies to all BudgetCoinz ATM locations

BudgetCoinz is committed to transparency. This page outlines your refund rights by state. Cryptocurrency transactions are generally irreversible. However, depending on your state of residence, you may have specific legal protections in cases of fraud. If you believe you encountered a scam, report it to us.

General Refund Policy

Cryptocurrency transactions completed at BudgetCoinz ATMs are final and irreversible once the transaction has been broadcast to the blockchain. BudgetCoinz cannot reverse, recall, or recover cryptocurrency that has been sent to a wallet address. However, in limited circumstances (including fraud), we may be able to assist if you contact us before the transaction is confirmed, or if your state law provides specific refund rights.

Colorado Residents

Colorado Fraud Refund Rights

Under Colorado law, a customer may be entitled to cancel and receive a full refund for a virtual currency transaction if ALL of the following conditions are met:

  • The transaction was the customer's FIRST virtual currency transaction, AND
  • The transaction was sent to a wallet or exchange located outside the United States, AND
  • Within 60 days of the transaction, the customer contacts both BudgetCoinz AND a government or law-enforcement entity, AND
  • The customer submits proof of fraud.

If all conditions are met, BudgetCoinz will issue the refund within the timeframe required by Colorado law after verification is complete. No administrative fees will be deducted from qualifying Colorado fraud refunds.

IMPORTANT: This right applies to first-time virtual currency transactions only. You must contact both BudgetCoinz and a government or law enforcement entity within 60 days and provide proof of fraud.

California Residents

California Refund Policy

We did not identify a California-specific kiosk fraud refund window in the California Digital Financial Assets Law kiosk provisions reviewed here. If you believe you were the victim of fraud, contact BudgetCoinz immediately at 800-540-3220.

If you believe you were charged more than the applicable California fee cap (the greater of $5.00 or 15% of your transaction amount), please contact us at 800-540-3220 or support@budgetcoinz.com. We will review your transaction and issue a refund or credit for any amount charged in excess of the permitted limit.

Kansas Residents

Kansas Refund Policy

Effective July 1, 2026, under the Kansas Virtual Currency Kiosk Consumer Protection Act (2025 House Bill 2591):

Initial transaction, any reason

You may request a full refund of your first transaction with BudgetCoinz, for any reason, within 72 hours of that transaction.

Fraudulent transactions

If you report a fraudulent transaction to the Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner, the Kansas Attorney General, or a law enforcement agency within 30 calendar days of the last fraudulent transaction, and give us a police report or sworn declaration, then:

  • For your initial transaction or any transaction within 14 days of it, we refund the full transaction amount plus all fees including any spread fee.
  • For all other transactions, we refund all direct and indirect charges including the spread fee and transaction fee.

How refunds are paid

By cash payout, ACH, or mailed check within 10 business days of your request. We may delay a refund for cause where fraud or wrongdoing is suspected, in which case we immediately report it to the Commissioner, the Attorney General, or law enforcement and hold only until that agency concludes its investigation.

Transaction limits

First transaction up to $1,000; only one transaction within 72 hours of your first; $1,000/day and $10,000 total within your first 14 days; $10,500/day after 14 days.
